Rain won't go away ...
Wednesday's game was postponed due to rain. No makeup date was announced, but it won't be Thursday, when the forecast is again iffy. Most likely there will be a day-night doubledheader when the Rays return to New York in July.
Manager Joe Maddon decided to push all of his pitchers back a day, which means RHP Jae Seo will now work Thursday night's game in New York, James Shields will pitch the home opener Friday, and Casey Fossum will pitch Saturday against Toronto ace Roy Halladay. Scott Kazmir will come back on an extra's day's rest to face the Blue Jays Sunday, and No. 5 starter Edwin Jackson will pitch the opener of the series in Texas on Monday.
The Yankees will push Andy Pettitte back a day, so the Rays will probably stick with much the same lineup Thursday they were going to use Wednesday, with Elijah Dukes moving up to the No. 6 spot and lefthanded-hitting Akinori Iwamura dropping to eighth.
Maddon did say he would wait to see just how cold it was - a wind chill in the low 30s is expected - before deciding whether to play DH Rocco Baldelli and C Dioner Navarro, who both have had hamstring problems.
