Rays add to catching depth with Gimenez

The Rays added another catcher to their spring roster, signing Chris Gimenez to a minor-league deal with an invite to camp.

Gimenez, 29, has big-league time with the Indians and Mariners, playing in 97 games over three seasons, with a .171 average, 5 homers, 21 RBIs.

His signing gives the Rays 59 players heading into Monday's opening of camp.
