Rays get Keppinger back, DL Allen, keep Guyer
UPDATE, 6:23: Allen said quad had been bothering him since Texas series and it "tightened up" after he ran hard to 2B last night.
Maddon said much the same. "He hurt it a week or 10 days ago and it's been kind of ratty, and he did feel it again running into second base,'' he said. "It's kind of a strain, and it's not getting better-better so we decided to do this and just make sure that he's well. He's done a great job for us, and he's the kind of guy we want to make sure that we hopefully can keep down the road at some point too.''
BREAKING: The Rays got Jeff Keppinger back from his one-day personal leave and kept Brandon Guyer as well, putting 1B/OF Brandon Allen on the DL with a right quad strain. Guyer was pleasantly surprised to get to stay, and looking forward to going back to Baltimore, near his Virgina home. Allen seemed to be running well last night when he raced to second after his 9th-inning pinch single, and scored on Matt Joyce's homer.
