Rays hang on for 9-8 win

The Rays snapped their three-game losing streak with a dramatic 9-8 win over the Orioles on Sunday.

The Rays took a 7-1 lead and looked to be cruising, then the Orioles narrowed the gap to 7-6. The Rays rebuilt the lead to 9-6, and the O's threatened again in the ninth.

James Shields got the win as the Rays hung on, and Fernando Rodney the save.

Sean Rodriguez, a late defensive replacement, made the final play grabbing Matt Wieters hard shot and throwing to first, where Carlos Pena scooped the throw.

The Rays improved to 21-14.
