Rays at Jays, without CC again
UPDATE, 12:21: Crawford said playing 11 straight games on the Tropicana Field turf took its toll and he needed a few days for rest and recovery. "My body's a little banged up ... it got kind of tough for me,'' Crawford said. "My body was just hurting so bad, it was just starting to become all I was thinking about. I'm just resting a few days, I should be back in the lineup tomorrow.''
Crawford said there was nothing wrong that would require him to "go on the DL or anything like that", but his shoulder, legs, "everything" was sore. ""I definitely could use a few days' rest,'' he said. "I don't think I ever played a stretch that long on turf, so it caught up with me.''
UPDATE, 11:56: Maddon says there is nothing wrong with Crawford, it's just a matter of him being sore, and getting time to "revive" his body. He is available today and will play Sunday, Maddon said. Also, Thayer stays on the roster today, Sonnanstine likely back Sunday.
DEVELOPING: The Rays have a matinee against the Jays today and LF Carl Crawford is unexpectedly out of the lineup again. Manager Joe Maddon gave Crawford Friday off but said it was just a day of rest and the four-time All-Star would return Saturday. Also, both RHPs Dale Thayer and Andy Sonnanstine are here, with no word yet if Sonnanstine is being activated.
