Rays Longoria feels great running bases, eyes rehab assignment
Rays third baseman Evan Longoria was encouraged after running the bases Saturday, a big step in his recovery from a partially torn left hamstring. "I felt good," he said. "We're still moving in the right direction." Longoria, on the DL since early May, said he will run the bases again Tuesday at Tropicana Field and then hopes to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday or Thursday. Manager Joe Maddon has said Longoria would need a 7-10 day assignment, but the All Star is hoping for less, 3-4 games.
