Rays lose to Tigers 7-2
The Rays didn't carry over any momentum from Wednesday's dramatic win, losing 7-2 on Thursday to the Tigers in a sloppy performance.
The Rays have to blame themselves for this defeat, as they wasted numerous chances to score, leaving 11 men on. They were 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position. And Carlos Pena made a costly baserunning mistake.
Jeff Niemann gave the Rays a decent first start, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over five innings, but needed 102 pitches to get there.
The Rays head off to a Boston for a four-game weekend series, startign with the Red Sox home opener on Friday, with David Price faciing Josh Beckett.
