Rays make coaching moves official, announce front office promotions

The Rays officially announced Wednesday that their coaching staff will return, with Stan Boroski taking over fulltime as bullpen coach.

Boroski filled in the second half of last season for Bobby Ramos, who took leave due to illness. Ramos' contract was not renewed.

Returning to their posts are bench coach Dave Martinez (fifth season), pitching coach Jim Hickey (sixth season), hitting coach Derek Shelton (third season), first-base coach George Hendrick (seventh season) and third-base coach Tom Foley (11th season).

The coaches got two-year extentions though manager Joe Maddon has only one year remaining on his contract.

The Rays also announced promotions for several members of their baseball operations staff, with Chaim Bloom and Erik Neander elevated to directors of baseball operations and James Click named director of baseball research and development.
