Rays at A's, for openers

UPDATE, 8:55: Maddon said he planned to give Bartlett tonight off anyway, and that he is available for later inning duty. Bartlett said he was "a little sore" but otherwise okay. ... Dan Johnson was excited, and a bit confused, on his return to Oakland, finding his way in and out of the visiting clubhouse the biggest difference. ... Maddon said all is set for Wade Davis and Jeff Niemann to throw their simulated game on Friday afternoon, the last big step before rejoining the rotation next week in Anaheim.

And here is the A's lineup:
Crisp cf
Barton 1b
Jackson lf
Suzuki c
Cust dh
Ellis 2b
Kouzmanoff 3b
Davis rf
Pennington ss
Cahill p

DEVELOPING: After a big win and a long flight on Wednesday, the Rays are preparing to open a four-game series against the A's at the Oakland Coliseum. The weather should be refreshing, at least, with lows expected in the 50s at night.

SS Jason Bartlett is not in the lineup tonight, after being involved in collisions two consecutive days, and Ben Zobrist is getting a night off as well.

Here is how the Rays are set up, with ex-A Dan Johnson at DH against his former mates:

Jaso c
Johnson dh
Crawford lf
Longoria 3b
Pena 1b
Joyce rf
Rodriguez 2b
Upton cf
Brignac ss
Sonnanstine p
