Rays post-break pitching: Hellickson, Price, Shields

The Rays set their pitching rotation for after the All-Star break, and they will square off against the Red Sox with Jeremy Hellickson, David Price and James Shields.

Alex Cobb and Matt Moore will pitch the first two of the ensuing four-game series against the Indians.

Manager Joe Maddon said they set it up that way for several reasons:

* To give Shields, who pitches today, and Price, who is expected to work one inning in Tuesday's All-Star Game, some extra rest.

* To split up Hellickson and Cobb, who have similar pitching styles and repertoires.

* To split up the two lefties, Price and Moore.

Maddon also said RHP Jeff Niemann, who is eligible to come off the DL July 14, is still a ways off from returning from a broken leg.
