Rays, in this ranking, are No. 3
ESPN's Keith Law is out with his annual ranking of organization farm systems, and the Rays are third.
While that's good news for Rays fans, the bad news is that the Red Sox are second - with the Rangers again first. The Orioles are sixth, the Blue Jays 16th and the Yankees 25th. Law's rankings are "based on the current inventory in each organization,'' with a nod toward top, high-impact prospects (and all have to be retaining rookie status to be eligible).
Law's column is part of the Insider package at espn.com so it can't be openly linked, but here is what he said about the Rays:
"The Rays have graduated a fair amount of talent in recent years but continue to come up with arms, while using their stumble last year to flip Scott Kazmir and add three solid prospects to their system. They could easily graduate three more above-average or better prospects this year if openings arise at the big league level."
