Rays recall RHP Brandon Gomes to take Scott's place
The Rays have recalled RHP reliever Brandon Gomes Friday. Gomes takes the roster spot of DH Luke Scott, who was placed on the DL Thursday with back spasms. With Hideki Matsui able to serve.as DH, the Rays didn't need another bat, and Gomes provides another quality arm in the bullpen for the next week until Scott returns.
