Rays reset rotation: Cobb in, Sonnanstine out

As expected, the Rays are keeping rookie Alex Cobb in their rotation for now and sending Andy Sonnanstine back to the bullpen.

Manager Joe Maddon said Cobb will start Tuesday in Anaheim, as the Rays push James Shields back a day so he is lined up to open the June 14 series opener with Boston.

They appear to be set this way until RHP Jeff Niemann returns from his rehab assignment, potentially on June 18 vs. Florida.

So here is how the rotation looks as of now:

Sunday at M's: Wade Davis

Monday at Angels: David Price

June 13 at Tigers: Cobb

June 14 vs. Red Sox: Shields
June 15 vs. Red Sox: Hellickson
June 16 vs. Red Sox: Price

June 17 vs. Marlins: Davis
June 18 vs. Marlins: Cobb/Niemann
