Rays season ends with 4-3 loss

The Rays season ended in disappointment Tuesday with a 4-3 loss to the Rangers in Game 4 of the AL Division Series.

Texas 3B Adrian Beltre hit three home runs (and Ian Kinsler the fourth) as the Rangers eliminated the Rays for the second straight season.

The Rays rallied for one run in the ninth, but couldn't complete the comeback with the late-game dramatics that carried them into the playoffs as the AL wild-card after starter Jeremy Hellickson put them in a 3-0 hole. Rookie sensation Matt Moore made his Tropicana Field debut, allowing one run in three innings.

The Rays were held to seven hits, with their biggest hitter, Evan Longoria, going 0-for-4 Tuesday and 1-for-11 over his last three games.

The game was not soldout, drawing an announced crowd of 28,299 to Tropicana Field.
