Rays sign all top picks

UPDATE, 12:21: Baseball America, as always, was all over the bonus info, reporting Guerrieri got $1.6-million, Mahtook $1.15-million and Goeddel $1.5-million.

UPDATE, 12:00: Rays signed all four top picks - Guerrieri, Mahtook, Goeddel and Garvin

DEVELOPING:  The Rays signed LHP Grayson Garvin, the 59th overall pick out of Vanderbilt.

With Garvin signed, the Rays now have three unsigned players from their top 12 picks - No. 1 RHP Taylor Guerrieri (24th overall), No. 2 OF Mikie Mahtook (31st overall) and No. 5 3B Tyler Goeddel (41st overall).

Garvin got $370,000, well below the recommended slot bonus of $614,700, as first reported by Baseball America.

Garvin, the 59th overall pick, was considering a return to Vanderbilt, where he was named SEC pitcher of the year after going 13-2, 2.48. He also was the Cape Cod League’s top pitcher in 2010.

“Grayson is a guy that has had a lot of success,’’ Rays executive VP Andrew Friedman said. “He has a good three-pitch pitch mix (90-92 mph fastball, changeup, slider/curve) and a good feel for how to manipulate the baseball and miss barrels (of bats).’’
