Rays turn triple play to end sixth-inning rally
The Rays turned a 5-4-3 triple play to thwart a Yankees bases-loaded rally in the sixth.
With the Yankees having already taken a 3-2 lead, RHP Jeremy Hellickson walked Jorge Posada intentionally to load the bases for catcher Russell Martin, who had homered earlier in the game.
Martin hit a sharp grounder to 3B Evan Longoria, who stepped to his right to tag third, threw to 2B Ben Zobrist, who turned it in time to get it to 1B Sean Rodriguez to beat Martin's head-first slide.
It was the third triple play in Rays team history, the first since Sept 2, 2006 against Seattle at the Trop.
