Rays vs. Angels, facing an old friend

19

September

UPDATE, 12:49: Maddon said he thought Upton needed a day off, so that's why he is not in the lineup. The decision to play Hawpe was a combination of wanting to get him in the lineup and see him at first, and that Maddon thinks his swing matches up well with Kazmir. Baldelli was also a tough decision over Aybar, but also because Maddon wanted to get Baldelli some at-bats.

UPDATE, 12:43: A lineup change for the Angels, as C Mike Napoli is scratched due to right forearm tightness. Hank Conger will catch and their lineup now looks like this:
Callaspo 3b
Abreu lf
Hunter rf
Matsui dh
Kendrick 2b
Rivera 1b
Conger c
Wood ss
Bourjos cf
Kazmir

UPDATE, 11:40: The Rays lineup has quite a different look today, with B.J. Upton and Carlos Pena off.

It looks like this:
Jennings cf,
Zobrist rf,
Crawford lf,
Longoria 3b,
Baldelli dh,
Rodriguez 2b,
Hawpe 1b,
Shoppach c,
Bartlett ss,
Niemann p

DEVELOPING: Coming off Saturday's thrilling and torturous win, the Rays are looking to win another series in today's finale as they face former ace Scott Kazmir in his first trip back to the Trop.

The pitching story will be in interesting on the Rays side too, as Jeff Niemann tries again to show he can regain his pre-disabled list form, and in time to be considered for a spot in the postseason rotation.

The Rays have played six consecutive one-run games, which is the longest such stretch in team history and matches the Twins for the most in the AL this season.

Here is the Angels lineup:

Callaspo 3b
Abreu lf
Hunter rf
Matsui dh
Napoli c
Kendrick 2b
Rivera 1b
Wood ss
Bourjos cf
Kazmir p
