Rays vs. Padres, under the dome



UPDATE, 5:58: Manager Joe Maddon said he chose Navarro to catch in part because of his ability to shut down the Padres running game, and also made it clear that rookie John Jaso will continue to be in the lineup and bat leadoff against right- handers. ... Also, Durham RHP Jeremy Hellickson and OF Desmond Jennings were named to the U.S. team for the July 11 All-Star Futures Game in Anaheim.

DEVELOPING: The Rays are back home for a three-game interleague series with the NL West-leading Padres, trying to break out of the 10-15 skid that dropped them from first place.
