Rays vs. Twins, w/no Zobrist, Pena
UPDATE, 5:27: Manager Joe Maddon confirmed the optimistic report by Zobrist, saying he felt much better today, went through a series of agility drills, hit off the tee and did some throwing this afternoon with good reports, and could be available to pinch-hit tonight or Tuesday. Maddon said it would be "a stretch" to think Zobrist would start Tuesday, but he said Wednesday was a possibility.
Maddon said he didn't know as much about 1B Carlos Pena (sore right foot) because he was still receiving treatment when Maddon came out for batting practice. One sign of caution about Pena's progress - there was a crutch at his locker.
RHP Jeremy Hellickson will be on a 100-105 pitch limit tonight in his debut, and Maddon said he is very confident Hellickson will not be intimidated or overly excited by the stage and expects him to pitch very well.
UPDATE, 5:25: Bonus for Rays and rookie starter Jeremy Hellickson tonight - no Joe Mauer in Twins lineup (or Justin Morneau, or Orlando Hudson):
UPDATE, 3:50: Rays Zobrist (stiff back) feeling better, hoping to be available to pinch-hit tonite, return to lineup Tuesday.
Here is the Rays lineup, with Ben Zobrist and Carlos Pena still sideline:
