UPDATE, 12:05: The Rays are acquiring Vasquez, but it is a deal for Triple-A depth and won't impact the big-league team. So the Benoit-Ekstrom pitch-off continues.

DEVELOPING: No word from the Rays, but there are reports out of Pittsburgh they have acquired RHP Virgil Vasquez for a player to be named later.

Vazquez, 27, appeared in 14 games for the Pirates last year, splitting time between the bullpen and the rotation, going 2-5 with a 5.84 ERA in 44.2 innings. He made 19 starts at Triple A, going 7-4, 3.93. He was with the Tigers before that.
