Rodney, Shields' changeup best of Baseball America's best



Fernando Rodney was voted the AL's best reliever and James Shields as having the best changeup in Baseball America's annual survey of league managers.

Rodney was voted ahead of Baltimore's Jim Johnson and Texas' Joe Nathan.

Shields' changeup was voted ahead of LA's Jered Weaver and Seattle's Felix Hernandez. Shields was also voted as having the second best pickoff move behind New York's Andy Pettitte.

Other Rays who made the top-3 list in each category:

* Ben Zobrist, second-best strike zone judgment, behind Minnesota's Joe Mauer.

* David Price, second-best fastball (behind Detroit's Justin Verlander), third-best pitcher (behind Verlander and Weaver).

* Evan Longoria, second-best defensive third baseman, behind Texas' Adrian Beltre.

* Joe Maddon, second-best manager, behind Detroit's Jim Leyland.
