Scott's welcoming gift: A Felix Pie doll
Rays DH Luke Scott had a special relationship with OF Felix Pie during their time together in Baltimore, and Scott was reminded of that Saturday.
Sitting on the chair in front of his locker in the visitor's clubhose was a 3-foot-or-so Pie "doll" made out of black athletic wrap, wearing Pie's No. 18 road jersey and used batting gloves, with white circles for eyes and mouth.
"I just had to start laughing,'' Scott said. "It's my friend that I miss so much - Felix the Cat. Felix Pie is my amigo, man. They made it for me and sent it over to bring back some good memories of my friend.''
Pie is currently playing for the independent league team in Camden, N.J. "Hopefully, he'll get signed by somebody,'' Scott said.
Scott said he has a pretty good idea who from the Orioles made the doll and sent it over. "It's pretty funny, especially if you know the stories behind it all,'' he said.
