Shelton a coach for MLB Taiwan tour
The Rays Derek Shelton has been named the hitting coach for the MLB All-Star team that will play a series of games during a tour of Taiwan next month.
No Rays players were among the 19 listed on the roster released Friday; with room for nine more to be added.
The biggest names on the roster currently as Yankees CF Curtis Granderson and 2B Robinson Cano and Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval. Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera is listed tentatively, likely pending whether or not they reach the World Series.
Rays equipment/home clubhouse manager Chris Westmoreland was also selected for the trip, which includes fives games against the Chinese Taipei national team played Nov. 1-6 in three cities: New Taipei City, Taichung and Kaohsiung.
The team will be managed by San Francisco's Bruce Bochy. Other coaches are Ron Wotus and Billy Hayes of the Giants and Rick Honeycutt of the Dodgers.
