Shields, Price, Joyce are All-Stars

Rays All-Stars are RHP James Shields, LHP David Price and OF Matt Joyce.

Manager Joe Maddon said having three players chosen is "pretty impressive. I didn't know how it was going to shake out. ... All three make sense, all three are deserving.''

Said Shields: "We've got three of us, three Rays representing. It's better than having one every year.''

Also, INF/OF Ben Zobrist was one of five players named to the ballot for the online vote for the final spot.

All three were thrilled at the news, delivered Sunday morning by Maddon. Price said he was added by AL manager Ron Washington, Joyce and Shields were voted in by the players.

Price: "I'm very honored. ... It's awesome.''

Shields: "It's a humble moment for me. I'm feeling very grateful, I'm honored to make the All-Star team."

Joyce: "I'm so pumped. It's probably the most exciting news I've heard in a really long time. It's unbelievable, a great feeling.''

Maddon said he thought another Ray or two could be added, potentially Zobrist and RHP Kyle Farnsworth.

Shields was fifth among the starters voted in by the AL players, behind Verlander, Weaver, Beckett, Hernandez - and ahead of Sabathia. Zobrist was 4th among the OFs, behind Bautista, Granderson and Ellsbury, and ahead of elected starter Josh Hamilton.
