Some notes about Sunday's sweep
The Rays PR staff came up with some interesting notes about Sunday's doubleheader sweep of the Phillies:
+ The Rays became only the second team in the majors this year to sweep a doubleheader. The Giants swept the Mets on April 23 at Citi
Field, 6-1 and 7-2.
+ The Rays swept the doubleheader with a combined total of 10 hits. According to Elias, that has happened only twice in the last 25 years:
on Sep 19, 2004 the Pirates beat the Mets 1-0 and 6-1 with a total of 9 hits, and on Sep 8, 1992 the White Sox beat the Tigers 4-3 and 4-3
with a total of 10 hits.
+ The Rays had more walks (14) than hits (10) and had more hits in Friday’s 7-6 loss to the Phillies than they had in the doubleheader.
+ The Rays swept a doubleheader while their team average dropped from .236 to .234.
