Spring invitees include Beckham, Hak-Ju Lee
The competition between Reid Brignac and Sean Rodriguez for the starting shortstop job will be a primary topic throughout spring training.
But the Rays will also be taking a look at the future, as top shortstop prospects Tim Beckham and Hak-Ju Lee are among the non-roster invitees from the organization.
Beckham is likely to be the starter at Triple-A Durham this season and Lee at Double-A Montgomery.
Also invited are lcatchers Craig Albernaz and Nevin Ashley, and pitchers Marquis Fleming, Ricky Orta and Ryan Reid.
Also coming is RHP Bryan Augenstein, a former Florida Gator who was signed to a minor-league deal after spending last season in the St. Louis organization, including five games with the Cardinals. He was 3-0 with a 4.04 ERA in 26 games at Triple-A Memphis.
