For starters, Rays at Angels, at end of the road
UPDATE, 3:06: Maddon said giving Zobrist and Keppinger today off is part of his plan to manage through a tough week, with no day off Monday - due to the Trop being used next Sunday for the RNC event - and wanting to keep everyone fresh. Longoria is likely to be off on Monday for that reason.
BREAKING: The Rays are looking to complete a four-game sweep of the Angels and finish their rugged road trip at a dazzling 8-2 today in a 3:35 start in Anaheim.
They'll look to do so with two regulars not in the starting lineup, Ben Zobrist and Jeff Keppinger both being rested today as the Rays are in the middle of a long stretch and, after flying most of tonight, face the Royals tomorrow.
Rookie LHP Matt Moore, who has been pitching very well, will be on the mound for the Rays, facing Zack Greinke, the hired gun brought in to help their postseason push.
Evan Longoria is in the Rays lineup today, and seems likely to get the day off Monday. Also, DH Luke Scott is expected to be activated from the DL on either Monday or Tuesday.
The Rays are seeking their first four-game sweep of the Angels in their history. They have one four-game sweep this season, of the Mariners at home.
The Rays are also looking to win 8 games on a road trip for the 3rd time in franchise history, having had a 9-1 journey in 2010 to Baltimore, Boston and Chicago, and an 8-1 trip in 2004 to San Diego, Arizona, and Toronto.
