For starters, Rays at Angels, with Shields pitching

UPDATE, 9:04: Pena said he was surprised to not be in the lineup but respected Maddon's decision and would be the best teammate he could be. Maddon said it was a matter of wanting to start as many right-handed hitters as possible. As for the infield alignment, he wanted to keep Zobrist at short and seems to prefer keeping Roberts at second, where he has been playing well. Plus, Rodriguez has a stronger arm than Roberts.

UPDATE, 7:30: A reason Pena is not in the lineup is that Weaver has actually been tougher this season on left-handed batters (.175 average allowed) than rigthhanded batters (.228). It would seem Pena could be out Saturday as well against LHP C.J. Wilson.
