For starters, Rays at Angels with Upton, without Longoria
UPDATE, 8:54: Most of the Rays who had the nasty stomach flu going aroung are feeling better except for Longoria, who also has a fever which is of concern. Also out is strength and conditioning coach Kevin Barr. INF Sean Rodriguez was so sick Monday he threw up during the game but stayed in. .. INF Elliot Johnson won't come off the DL when eligible Wednesday, but will test his sprained left knee in rehab games for Triple-A Durham on Thursday and Friday and the be re-evaluated. ... RHP Jeff Niemann makes his second rehab start on Wednesday for Durham. ... Hendrick, no surprise, declined to comment publicly about throwing out the first pitch, just as he doesn't on pretty much everything else.
UPDATE, 7:09: Some of the Rays, such as B.J. Upton, are feeling better, but Evan Longoria apparently is not as he remains out of the lineup.
DEVELOPING: The Rays are looking to win back-to-back games for the first time since mid-May when they send rookie RHP Alex Cobb to the mound tonigth against the Angels Dan Haren.
The Rays won 5-1 on Monday despite being shorthanded, with 3B Evan Longoria and CF B.J. Upton knocked out of the lineup, and several others, including INFs Sean Rodriguez and Reid Brignac and RHP Adam Russell, limited by a stomach flu that has been going around their clubhouse.
Upton was expected to be back in the lineup tonight, Longoria's status was unclear. The lineup hasn't been made available yet.
Also, 1B coach George Hendrick will throw out the first pitch tonight as part of the Angels' season-long celebration honoring alumni. He played for the Angels 1985-88 and was a coach in 1998-99.
