For starters, Rays at Jays

UPDATE, 12:10: Manager Joe Maddon expressed confidence in struggling 1B Dan Johnson - .121 average, 1 HR, 3 RBIs - and said he likes the matchup today against Jays lefty Ricky Romero, which is why Johnson is in the cleanup spot. Maddon also said he put Felipe Lopez - pulled from the lineup Friday for a lack of hustle and benched Saturday - back in the lineup with a clean slate today. ... 3B Evan Longoria reported a "huge step forward" today when he took 20-some swings in the batting cage off balls thrown by hitting coach Derek Shelton, and said he felt nothing from his previously strained oblique. Longoria is expected to rejoin the Rays on their next homestand. ... OF Sam Fuld's 10 steals lead the majors, and he is one shy of Carl Crawford's 2004 team for steals in April. ... DH/OF Johnny Damon is second in the majors with 7 go-ahead RBIs (behind Philadelphia's Ryan Howard) and with 17 RBIs has driven in 22 percent of the Rays runs, the highest percentage in the majors.

DEVELOPING: The Rays look to take the series from the Jays today after splitting the first two games, both in somewhat dramatic fashion.

They will have James Shields on the mound today, coming off his complete game, and they will be looking to get Toronto's Jose Bautista out for the first time this weekend - he is 6-for-6, with 3 HRs, and three walks.
