For starters, Rays at Jays
Update 11:17 a.m. Manager Joe Maddon said CF B.J. Upton won't play Saturday but there's an "outside chance" he plays Sunday against the Red Sox. If not, "definitely" Tuesday after the offday.
Upton has been sore since his on-field collision with LF Desmond Jennings on Wednesday.
*Maddon said C Robinson Chirinos' concussion could impact his availability for the Opening Day roster. Chirinos, who was competing for the second catcher spot, has been out since suffering the injury Monday and there's no timetable for his return.
Developing: The Rays are taking several of their big-name players to Dunedin today for an exhibition with the Jays.
RHP Jeff Niemann, impressive thus far in his bid to retain a spot in the rotation, will be on the mound.
LF Desmond Jennings, shaken up in Wednesday's collision with CF B.J. Upton, is back in the lineup. Upton is not ready yet, still having soreness in his lower back, and said this morning in Port Charlotte he hopes to play Saturday or Sunday.
Veteran C Jose Molina is playing for a second straight day, an effort to prep him for heavier duty this season. Two of the candidates for the other catcher's job are also in the lineup, Jose Lobaton at DH and Chris Gimenez at 1b.
