For starters, Rays at Jays, searching for runs

UPDATE, 12:22: Maddon said from what he's heard from the coaching staff, he is anticipating a good game today from RHP Jeff Niemann, making his first start since May 14, when he was hit on the right leg by a line drive right here in Toronto. ... Longoria is at DH to give him a day off his feet. .... Maddon will stay away from using Elliot Johnson if possible, as Johnson has swelling and abrasions on his face and, of more concern, soreness in his right hip.

BREAKING: Having scored one run in their first two games here, and obviously losing both, the Rays are looking for something to change in today's 1:07 matinee at Toronto.

RHP Jeff Niemann makes his return, on the same mound where his right leg was broken May 14, as the Rays face Jays RHP Henderson Alvarez.

The game is not on TV in the Tampa Bay market.

Evan Longoria is expected to be at DH for the Rays today after playing back to back games at third base.

The status of INF Elliot Johnson is unclear, as he sustained several facial abrasions and was to undergo concussion testing after the collsioin at home plate on the final play Friday night.

New OF Ben Francisco is expected to wear No. 13, the first player to do so since Carl Crawford left following the 2010 season.

Lineups when available.
