Update 6:00 p.m. There's been some afternoon news with the Rays, as OF/1B Brandon Allen has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Durham, with manager Joe Maddon pleased they get to keep him in the organization.

*RHP Kyle Farnsworth (right elbow strain) will start a rehab assignment Monday in Port Charlotte, though Maddon said they're going to be very "cautious" with hiim as he works his way back.

*3B Evan Longoria will take the next step in his recovery from a partially torn left hamstring by doing running/acceleration drills Saturday, which should tell the Rays when he can start his rehab assignment. Longoria has targeted mid-June as a return date.

*Ex-Ray OF Justin Ruggiano, in his third organization in the last year, said he's happy playing for the Marlins, getting an opportunity and working with manager Ozzie Guillen.

*With a late arrival following last night's game in New York, the Rays would typically not take batting practice on a day like today. But with the Rays yet to see the Marlins new ballpark, they wanted to get a feel for the field, roof, etc. Maddon said he likes the yard, appreciating the green colored wall around the outfield.

"I like the Dodge Challenger green wall out there, I really dig that a lot - circa 1970, Challenger RT 440 6-pack," Maddon quipped.

*Maddon said they tweaked the lineup to have Jennings in the No. 2 hole, giving some space between the pitcher, Jeremy Hellickson, and him so he could have soem RBI opportunities.

Developing: The Rays, coming off a sweep-stopping win over the Yankees, will begin a three-game interleague series with the Marlins tonight in their brand-new digs in Miami.

Marlins Park certainly has an amusement park-like feel, with the retractable roof that can come in handy with all the rain today.

RHP Jeremy Hellickson will start on the mound for the Rays, with Ricky Nolasco going for the Marlins.

A question will be how much DH Luke Scott gets to play in the field at all, he said he can play first, but is still building his arm strength for outfield duty.

Rays lineup:

Rhymes 3b
Jennings lf
Joyce rf
Upton cf
Zobrist 2b
Pena 1b
Lobaton c
Rodriguez ss
Hellickson rhp
