For starters, Rays-M's, w/no Crawford

UPDATE, 6:11: Manager Joe Maddon said he is just giving Crawford a day off to keep him off the turf, with plans to play him through the weekend in Texas and then evaluate how often's he'll play during the final seven games at home.

DEVELOPING: The Rays are looking to make it five straight wins - and at least do their part to delay official elimination from postseason play - against the Mariners tonight. (They're out with a Boston win anyway.)

They'll do so without LF Carl Crawford in the lineup tonight, a day off against Seattle hyphenated lefty Ryan Rowland-Smith. The result isn't much of a powerful outfield, with Fernando Perez in left, B.J. Upton in center and Gabe Kapler in right.

Jeff Niemann, meanwhile, tries to enhance his chances for the AL Rookie of the Year award with a 13th win.

And there is always a chance for history with Ken Griffey Jr. in the Seattle lineup.

Here is the Rays lineup:
Bartlett ss
Kapler rf
Longoria 3b
Zobrist 2b
Burrell dh
Aybar 1b
Navarro c
Upton cf
Perez lf
Niemann p

And for the Mariners:
Suzuki rf
Gutierrez cf
Lopez 2b
Griffey dh
Beltre 3b
Hall lf
Johjima c
Carp 1b
Jo. Wilson ss
Rowland-Smith p
