For starters, Rays at Orioles
Update 6:43 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said 3B Evan Longoria (partially torn left hamstring) had a really encouraging workout today and is "closer than you think" to a rehab assignment. Maddon said Longoria will work out again Wednesday and be re-evaluated, with the possibility he begins a rehab assignment during this road trip. Maddon said it would be 3-4 games max, as it appears the Rays will work Longoria back as a DH first.
*Maddon said CF Desmond Jennings is likely back atop the order to stay, with Carlos Pena getting a day off.
*OF Sam Fuld (right wrist) said he's excited to be back off the DL and in the lineup for his season debut. Maddon said it's possible Fuld could have a similar impact as last year, when he was a catalyst, making great defensive plays and some solid at-bats.
Update 3:47 pm: The Rays officially activated Sam Fuld from the disabled list, and put him right in the lineup in left. Rays lineup: jennings cf, upton dh, zobrist 2b, keppinger 1b, joyce rf, rodriguez 2b, fuld lf, lobaton c, conrad 3b, hellickson rhp
Developing: The Rays are here in Baltimore to open a three-game series - and nine-game road trip.
With the sun coming out at Camden Yards, several Rays are on the field early to throw the frisbee around, including LHP David Price, RHP Wade Davis, RHP James Shields and RHP Alex Cobb.
The Rays are expected to activate OF Sam Fuld from the disabled list; he's been out since the last week of spring training due to right wrist surgery. Fuld would likely be the team's fourth outfielder/pinch-hitter, while allowing manager Joe Maddon to rest CF B.J. Upton or LF Desmond Jennings on certain days.
RHP Jeremy Hellickson will get the start on the mound tonight, with the Orioles - who have won five of their last six and are ahead of the Rays in the wild card race - will counter with LHP Wei-Yin Chen.
Lineups and more to come...
