For starters, Rays at O's, with Brignac at 2B
UPDATE, 11:37: Maddon again said not to read anything into the lineup, that no decisions had been made on shortstop, on the outfield alignment or on the batting order. Also, that Brignac will move to short later in the game.
UPDATE, 8:51: Expect Shields to work four innings/60 pitches today. ... LHP J.P. Howell was on the orginal list to pitch but said that was a miscommunication and he will throw Monday and Wednesday. ... RHP Jeff Niemann will throw a bullpen session in Port Charlotte today with a bandage on the blister on his right middle finger.
BREAKING: The Rays are heading up to Sarasota today to face the Orioles, with opening day starter James Shields on the mound for his final spring tuneup.
More interesting as the Rays prep for Friday's opener is the lineup, with Sean Rodriguez at short today and Reid Brignac at second. One of the remaining decisions for the Rays is whether one or the other will be the primary starter, of if they will share time. Matt Joyce continues to get time in leftfield - another sign he will likely play there with Desmond Jennings replacing B.J. Upton in center.
Also of note is the batting order, with Carlos Pena again in the second slot.
