For starters, Rays at Rangers, with Guyer and Ruggiano in lineup



UPDATE, 7:21: Maddon said Guyer will be in the lineup when the Rays face lefthanders, and occasionally against righthanders and noted tha he can play all three positions. ... Jose Lobaton is likely to join the Rays Friday or Saturday if he gets through a seven-inning stint tonight catching for Class A Charlotte. And when Lobaton is ready, Maddon said he will play often, meaning less time for Kelly Shoppach and John Jaso. ... RHP Kyle Farnsworth said his elbow felt fine Wednesday in his first action since sitting out a few days with tenderness and that his issues were more related to being "rusty" from not pitching for seven days. .. The Rangers activated Adrian Beltre off the DL and have him in the lineup tonight.

DEVELOPING: The Rays are looking to make it two out of three against the Rangers as they conclude their series tonight in Arlington, where the temperatures are soaring again.

RHP Jeff Niemann will be on the mound for the Rays, opposing eccentric Rangers lefty C.J. Wilson.

The Rays are likely to have OF Brandon Guyer, who was just called up from Triple-A, in the lineup tonight to add a righthanded bat.

The Rays head home after tonight's game, and host the Orioles for a holiday weekend series.
