UPDATE, 6:24: Joyce said his left arm was feeling better, and Maddon said he considered Thursday unlikely but hoped to have Joyce back on Friday. ... Maddon said struggling Carlos Pena should not be considered the "lightning rod" or "whipping boy" for the team's struggles. ... BREAKING: The Rays are looking tonight to avoid being swept in a series for the first time since late June, when they lost three in a row to the Royals.

They will have RHP Alex Cobb, who is coming off a strong start, on the mound against Texas' top winner, lefty Matt Harrison.

A lack of offense has again been the primary problem, as the Rays on Tuesday lost 1-0 for the fourth time this month, and all in a 22-game span.

They are the first team to do that four times in a calendar month, as well as within a 22-game span, since the 1969 Astros, who did it in 20 games in July. The Rays are the first AL team to do so since the 1955 White Sox.

Evan Longoria is expected to be back at DH for the Rays tonight. Matt Joyce, who left Tuesday's game with a left forearm strain, is not exepected to play, his condition is listed as day to day.

Lineups when available.
