For starters, Rays-Tigers, on Beach Night
Update 6:04 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said CF B.J. Upton's sprained left ankle continues to improve, and he did some light field work Saturday afternoon (and was scheduled to hit in the cage), with the possibility he could be available to pinch-hit Sunday. And if Upton continues to progress, he could start one of the double-header games in New York.
RHP Edwin Jackson said he was excited for his start Sunday against the Rays, saying it's like being in high school again because he'll be facing so many friends.
Tigers manager Jim Leyland continued to rave about RHP Jeff Niemann, saying he should be considered for AL Rookie of the Year.
The Beach Boys have the post-game entertainment, but the Rays are on stage first needing to beat the Tigers to keep whatever postseason hopes they have going after back-to-back losses. Fernando Perez is again in center in place of B.J. Upton.
