For starters, Rays at Twins
UPDATE, 9:12: B.J. Upton (sore back) was moving around better and smiling brighter in the Rays clubhouse this morning, holding a bat as he headed out to take swings and said he could play in a minor league game. Feeling better? "A lot better,'' he said. ... OF Desmond Jennings will play in a minor-league game and play catch today and if all goes well with his sore shoulder could DH in the big-league game on Tuesday. ... SS Reid Brignac will play part of a minor-league game on a limited basis, and is still bothered by the plantar fascia issue in his right foot. He said it has progressed to, "uncomfortable but tolerable" and he didn't yet know his status for opening day. ... OF Sam Fuld will see Dr. Doug Carlin in St. Pete today to have his right wrist checked.
BREAKING: The Rays are heading south to Fort Myers for their seventh game of the spring against the Twins, having losing five of the first six.
Jeff Niemann will be on the mound for the Rays in what should be the final start before the Rays set their rotation, and he appears the likely candidate to win the final spot after the addition of rookie Matt Moore.
Here is the Rays lineup, again without B.J. Upton (sore back) and Desmond Jennings (sore shoulder):
