For starters, Rays at Twins (twice)
UPDATE, 6:25: A couple other interesting notes:
* The 19 hits in Game 1 tied the Rays season high, and it was the second game of 15 or more runs this season, something they'd never done twice in April
* The Twins have thrown 427 pitches in the 1st 2 games of the series -212 Wednesday, 215 today. Of all 9-inning games in the majors this season, those are among the 5 highest totals. Its the first time since May 2009 that a team had to throw 200-plus pitches in consecutive games against the same opponent - the Marlins had to do so vs. the Rays then.
UPDATE, 5:20: Rays lineup for Game 2:
E. Johnson ss
And for the Twins:
UPDATE, 12:26: Maddon said INF Elliot Johnson and C John Jaso will play in the second game, but beyond that he'll wait to see how the first game goes. ... The tarp has come off the field and the temperature has increased to 41, with a feels-like of 33. ... There is still no official commitment to Andy Sonnastine as the Sunday starter, though Maddon said that could clear up by the end of tonight's game, meaning if he isn't needed. ... Maddon will improve to .500 as manager of the Rays, at 417-417, if the Rays win the opener today, for the first time since they were 8-8 in his first season, in 2006. If they win both games, he'll be above .500 for the second time, also at 7-6 in 2006. ... Very pleased with the 1-2 combo of Sam Fuld and Johnny Damon at the top of the lineup, Maddon said that when Evan Longoria returns to the No. 3 spot he is leaning toward splitting the cleanup spot between Matt Joyce (vs. righthanders) and Ben Zobrist (vs. lefties.) ... RHP Jeremy Hellickson will actually have about 100 friends and relatives in the stands, many making the 3 1/2 hour drive from their Des Moines, Iowa, homes. ... UPDATE, 11:50: Rays lineup for the matinee, with Jeremy Hellickson on the mound:
DEVELOPING: The Rays have arrived at Target Field for what will be a long - and cold and wet - day, with two games, one at 12:10 local time and the other at 7:10.
The temperature at 10:15 local time is 39 degrees with a feels-like of 32, and there is already a light rain falling - with the chance for more of that SNOW stuff. But the GOOD news is that the temperatures are going to rise throughout the day and might even get into the 50s! by this afternoon.
Manager Joe Maddon said they'll play the first game with their regular - well somewhat regula - lineup, then reassess to see if they need to reconfigure for the night game. OF Sam Fuld is one guy who might get the nightcap off.
