For starters, Rays vs. Angels
UPDATE 4:30 LF Johnny Damon said his sore right calf feels better, and he's ready to get back in the lineup tonight. Manager Joe Maddon did say that he'll have to keep a close eye on Damon, especially playing on the Tropicana Field turf, and see how he feels tommorrow before the day game.
*Maddon said the lineup today may not necessarily be the same one they'll use all the time against right-handed pitchers, but he liked putting John Jaso back on the top, adding it may get him going a little bit.
Maddon said he's leaning towards a platoon at third base, with Sean Rodriguez and Felipe Lopez.
*DH Manny Ramirez is 1-for-12 with an RBI in his first three games as a Ray. Maddon said he feels Ramirez is expanding his strike zone a little bit, a product of likely him putting pressure on himself to perform for his new team. Maddon said it's a natural feeling, and appreciates it, and believes both Ramirez and Damon (0-for-8) will get things going.
UPDATE, 4:00: Rays lineup: Jaso c Damon cf Zobrist 2b Manny dh D. Johnson 1b Upton cf Joyce rf Rodriguez 3b Brignac ss Niemann p
The Rays, coming off getting swept by the Orioles to start the season, will try to bounce back tonight against the Angels, who are in for a brief, two day series.
The Angels are off to a rough start, too, having lost three of their first four games in Kansas City.
RHP Jeff Niemann will start on the mound for the Rays, with RHP Jered Weaver for Anaheim. It'll be interesting to see how manager Joe Maddon shakes up the lineup, with 3B Evan Longoria out for at least three weeks with a left oblique strain. Ben Zobrist, who hit third Sunday, could very well be in that spot again.
Sean Rodriguez and recently called-up veteran Felipe Lopez are expected to both get some time at third base.
