For starters, Rays vs. Future Rays
The Rays will wrap up their exhibition slate with a matchup with the Future Rays, a compilation of minor league players, most from Class-A.
Of course, the Future Rays will have a pretty impressive pitching staff, with LHP Matt Moore, LHP J.P. Howell and RHP Wade Davis scheduled to face the big-league hitters. RHP Jeff Niemann will start for the Rays.
As for some pre-game news, though the roster isn't officially announced yet, manager Joe Maddon said Sean Rodriguez will get a bulk of the starts at shortstop, while also playing second base. It appears Rodriguez, Reid Brignac and Elliot Johnson will all get time in the middle infield, with Maddon saying there will be a lot of moving around. Jeff Keppinger will also play some second base.
CF B.J. Upton (sore back) is going to take batting practice here, and is feeling better, though there's no date yet for his rehab stint. Maddon indicated it'd take a t least a week, 20-25 at-bats, in the minors for Upton to be ready to return from the disabled list.
As far as today's game, recently-called up C Stephen Vogt will play all nine innings, split between the two teams, in the outfield, as he'll likely play there some during the regular season. DH Luke Scott will get some at-bats for the Future Rays.
