For starters, Rays vs Jays
Update 12:28 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said C Dioner Navarro is feeling better today, but isn't sure if he'd be available; Navarro felt soreness in his lower right leg during batting practice Saturday, and was a late scratch from the lineup. But Maddon indicated it didn't appear to be anything serious.
*C Kelly Shoppach, who underwent knee surgery last week, no longer needs crutches, but Maddon said the most optimistic and best-case scenario would have him ready to play in six weeks. Shoppach said it was a tough decision to have surgery, and he thought about playing through the right knee spring, and feeling an "obligation" to the organization. But they decided this was the smart move.
*DH Pat Burrell is back in the lineup, with Maddon saying he felt good enough last night to be available to pinch-hit, so the stiffness in his upper back appears to have subsided.
*Jaso said he got the ball from his first career home run from Saturday, with RHP Grant Balfour and bullpen coach Bobby Ramos helping retrieve it for him.
Developing: The Rays will face the Jays in the series finale today at Tropicana Field, with DH Pat Burrell returning to the lineup. He had been bothered by stiffness in his upper back.
C John Jaso, who had a big day Saturday night (with his first career homer), is back behind the plate. SS Jason Bartlett will get the day off, with Reid Brignac starting in his place.
