For starters, Rays vs. Jays
UPDATE, 12:27: Since several people have asked, yes, Joe West is behind the plate today.
UPDATE, 12:21: Manager Joe Maddon said he felt SS Reid Brignac was clearly pressing too much and plans to keep him out of the lineup (though available for late-inning duty) for two games, today and Friday. Plus, he wanted to see Sean Rodriguez at shortstop, which could lead to some further shuffling if Brignac continues to struggle at the plate. And - for what it's worth - Maddon said he was going to start Matt Joyce against Jays lefty Ricky Romero, who ended up geting scratched from the start. ... There has been no word yet on further discipline for Maddon or B.J. Upton from Wednesday's ejections. ... Maddon praised the umpiring crew for acknowledging their mistake, but also said he won't abide by the rule that doesn't allow him to further argue a call after the umpires have had a group consultation.
UPDATE, 11:05: RHP Jeff Niemann said his back is "still pretty sore" this morning. He saw the back doctor and had an MRI, but no decision has been made on his status. The Rays could recall Alex Cobb if Niemann goes on DL.
UPDATE, 10:20: Doesn't look like there will be word from MLB before the game. And an interesting twist to the lineup with Sean Rodriguez starting at SS ahead of Brignac and E. Johnson.
Here is the lineup:
DEVELOPING: It's much calmer at the Trop this morning - so far anyway - than it was Wednesday night, as the Rays get set to finish their series with the Jays.
Rays ace LHP David Price will be on the mound against Jays rookie Kyle Drabek, the son of longtime major-leaguer Doug Drabek.
No word yet on the condition of RHP Jeff Niemann, who left with back tightness, or on discipline for manager Joe Maddon or CF B.J. Upton, who were both ejected, and unhappy about it.
