For starters, Rays vs Jays, with no Crawford
Update 4:50 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said LF Carl Crawford is just getting another day off, with the three days this week serving as "preventative maintenance" in a long season, making sure he's healthy. Maddon said there's nothing physically wrong with Crawford, who will play the next three games.
Maddon said this week provided a good opportunity for the rest as the Jays were throwing a couple left-handers, coupled with the team's day off Monday.
Update 4:45 p.m. C Dioner Navarro was scratched from the lineup due to a stiff neck; C John Jaso is now behind the plate.
The Rays will try to sweep the Jays in the series finale tonight at Tropicana Field, and will do so with LF Carl Crawford out of the lineup.
Crawford, who had two days off this week (Monday's team off day and Tuesday), played in Wednesday night's win. He is 1-for-7 in his career against tonight's starter, LHP Brett Cecil, but Gabe Kapler is 1-for-6 and Dioner Navarro is 0-for-8 (both are in the lineup).
Rays right-hander Wade Davis will take the mound, hoping to bounce back from a rough outing in Texas.
