For starters, Rays vs. Mariners, with Shields on hill

UPDATE, 5:34: Rhymes has made six starts at 3B at Triple-A Durham and said he feels increasingly comfortable there, though he would have to study up on the positioning regarding the different shifts the Rays use, since the Bulls don't do that. And he had a good sense of humor about it, asked how he might do: "I'll let you know tonight.'' ... Manager Joe Maddon wasn't sure, but it sounds like closer-designate Fernando Rodney will be off tonight after pitching in three straight games. .. Maddon said they will look at several players at 3B in Evan Longoria's absence - Rhymes, Elliot Johnson, Jeff Keppinger and possibly current SS Sean Rodriguez and could pick one or two but most likely it will be a "revolving door" situation based on matchups. ... RHP Kyle Farnsworth said he felt good the day after testing his elbow for the first time by throwing - albeit the ball was in a sock to minimize the necessary movement.

BREAKING: The Rays look to continue their hot streak against the Mariners tonight and will have James Shields on the mound.

The Rays have won nine of their last 10 and are in first place in the AL East, one game up on Baltimore and 2 1/2 on New York. A big part has been their play at the Trop, where they have an MLB-best 10-1 home record.

Shields is looking for what would be his major-league leading fifth win.

The Rays have to sort on who will play third tonight, with Elliot Johnson handling the assignment the last two games after Evan Longoria was hurt.

Ex-Ray John Jaso may get his first start behind the plate for the M's tonight.

Lineups when available.
