For starters, Rays vs Orioles
The Rays, coming off their series victory over the Red Sox (taking three of four), will open a two-game series today with the struggling Orioles.
C Dioner Navarro is back behind the plate after getting Sunday off. Willy Aybar is at DH, instead of Pat Burrell.
Manager Joe Maddon said Burrell was still sore from getting hit in the rib area with a pitch Sunday, so he gets a day off, and he also wanted to get Aybar some at-bats.
Ben Zobrist will make another start in rightfield.
LHP Scott Kazmir will start for the Rays, saying he still has a little bit of work to do mechanically, but Maddon said he had a really good conversation with the All-Star lefthander a couple days ago, helping him think things through.
3B Evan Longoria earned AL Player of the Week honors earlier today - his second such award this season (he also won it in the season-opening week).
In other news, backup C Shawn Riggans (right shoulder tendonitis) will start a rehab assignment Tuesday in Montgomery, where he plans to stay throughout their next homestand (which ends Saturday). He said he's feeling good, and will see where he's at after this week.
