For starters, Rays vs. Rangers
Update 4:55 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said LHP David Price should be "ready to roll" for his next start next weekend in NYC. The Rays announced their rotation for the Orioles series Tues-Thurs, with it being Moore, Cobb and Hellickson.
Maddon said OF Desmond Jennings had some lower back tightness, which is why he's not in the lineup today, but he should be available to pinch-hit and start Sunday. Maddon said Evan Longoria felt good after playing 11 innings at third base Friday, so he's in there again today. Maddon thinks Longoria could DH Sunday, but not sure yet.
Carlos Pena is out of the lineup against RHP Yu Darvish, but Maddon said that's partly because he wants to keep Jeff Keppinger's bat in the lineup, and get Luke Scott in there.
Maddon said RHP Joel Peralta, RHP Fernando Rodney and Kyle Farnsworth should be available out of the bullpen tonight, but likely not RHP Wade Davis.
Update 4:26 p.m. LHP David Price, who had his start skipped today due to shoulder soreness, felt good today in playing catch for the second straight day.
"Felt pretty close to normal," he said.
Price said he plans to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, and expects to make his next start sometime next weekend against the Yankees.
*As special as Friday night's win was for the Zobrist family - Julianna singing the anthem and Ben hitting the walkoff homer in the 11th - Zobrist said his wife actually missed seeing his winning hit live. Julianna had left a little before to take their two young kids home, and heard the homer on the radio. "They were screaming in the car," Zobrist said.
*The Rays had their annual team photo today, with Fernando Rodney in the middle of the coaches row. For the last take, all the players and coaches slanted their hats to the left, in tribute of Rodney.
Update 4:23 p.m. The Rays lineup includes Evan Longoria at third for the second straight game, no Carlos Pena, and Jose Molina behind the plate against Rangers RHP Yu Darvish.
Developing: The Rays, coming off a dramatic, 3-1 11-inning win over the Rangers Friday night, will try to repeat the feat tonight against the AL-West leaders.
Rookie RHP Chris Archer, called up Friday, will make his third big-league start, and Tropicana Field debut, stepping in for LHP David Price (shoulder soreness).
Price is on the field early here playing catch again with head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield. Price has said he's feeling better and expects to make his next start next weekend in New York.
It's also team photo day for the Rays, and they're getting the stage set up near the mound for the 4 p.m., photo opp.
Lineups, and more, to come
