For starters, Rays vs. Red Sox

The Rays have talked for weeks about getting back into the race for a playoff spot, and now they have a chance to prove if they can, opening a three-game series tonight against the wild-card leading Red Sox.

And they'll do it with another different look to their lineup, with B.J. Upton hitting second and Johnny Damon hitting fifth. The Sox, meanwhile, will be without 3B Kevin Youkilis, who reportedly went back to Boston on Friday rather than join the team in St. Pete.

The Rays will have Wade Davis on the mound against Boston's John Lackey. Davis has never beaten the Red Sox, but said he feels the best he has all season. Lackey has been struggling, as have the Sox overall, losing seven of their last 10.

The Rays lineup looks like this, with John Jaso catching:
Jennings lf
Upton cf
Longoria 3b
Zobrist 2b
Damon dh
Joyce rf
Kotchman 1b
Jaso c
Brignac ss
Davis p

And the Red Sox lineup, without Youkilis:
Ellsbury cf

Gonzalez 1b
Pedroia 2b
Oritz dh
Crawford lf
Lowrie 3b
Reddick rf
Saltalamacchia c
Lackey p
